Ayurveda at Amman Spa: Release Stress and Tension in the Neck and Head with the Shirodhara Ritual
Shirodhara is a traditional Ayurvedic technique used to reduce stress, anxiety, and tension, while enhancing mental clarity and focus. The treatment involves the slow pouring of herbal oils onto the client’s forehead, creating a calming and soothing effect.
This is followed by a massage of the face, neck, décolletage, head, and arms.
Imagine the gentle touch of warm oil and the pressure of massage on your head, as all tension and unnecessary worries melt away.
Ayurveda is a holistic medical system that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It views health as a balance of body, mind, and spirit, relying on natural methods such as nutrition, herbs, massage, breathing techniques, and spiritual practices.
It is based on the concept of three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) – bio-energetic forces that govern physiological and psychological functions – and treatment involves lifestyle adjustments in harmony with one’s individual constitution and natural rhythms.
In the context of spa therapy, Ayurveda includes techniques such as warm oil massages, herbal treatments, and aromatherapy to balance body, mind, and spirit. The goal of Ayurvedic spa therapy is to achieve inner harmony and detoxify the body through individually tailored treatments.
As part of the Shirodhara ritual at Amman Spa, aromatherapy with essential oils is also used for complete relaxation. While lying on a comfortable massage bed, covered with a towel in a soothing ambiance with gentle meditative music, the touch of warm oil and the skilled movements of the therapist will take you on a new, adventurous journey far away from worries and stress.
High-quality herbal oils are used in Shirodhara. At Amman Spa, either pure almond oil or pure coconut oil is used.
This treatment lasts 45 minutes.
